Known Trivia

  • Greg Berlanti signed on to co-write and direct the film in 2007, but he stepped down to instead direct This Is Where I Leave You and handed direction over to Martin Campbell. However, he remained on board as a writer and producer.
  • In the comics, there have been six people who held (and still hold) the title of the Green Lantern: Alan Scott (1940), Hal Jordan (1959), Guy Gardner (1968), John Stewart (1971), Kyle Rayner (1994) and Jennifer-Lynn Hayden (AKA “Jade,” Alan Scott’s daughter, 1983). Scott and Jade are the only ones who are different because their powers come from a magical source, and though they have been Green Lanterns in name, they are actually not part of the Green Lantern Corps (though Jade officially joined up).
  • Sam Worthington and Chris Pine were considered for the role of Hal Jordan. Brian Austin Green, a fan of the Green Lantern, campaigned actively to get the role. Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake and Jared Leto also screen-tested for the role before finally, Ryan Reynolds was cast as Jordan.
  • Keri Russell, Eva Green, Jennifer Garner and Diane Kruger were all considered to play Carol Ferris.
  • Comic book writer Geoff Johns, who has worked on the “Green Lantern” comic and made it a resounding success, was signed on as a creative consultant on the film.
  • At one point Clark Kent/Superman was in the script (he had a cameo as one of the candidates considered to receive a power ring), but he was cut out because the filmmakers didn’t want to depend on another superhero for a success.
  • The scriptwriters drew inspiration from the Green Lantern comics ‘Emerald Dawn’ (which told the story of Hal Jordan’s induction into the Green Lantern Corps and how he became its greatest member) and ‘Secret Origin’ (a modern retelling of Hal Jordan’s early days as a Green Lantern), as well as the work of Denny O’Neil-Neal Adams and Dave Gibbons’ work on the “Green Lantern” comic.
  • Around June 2006, Robert Smigel had completed a script of the film, which was a comedy-adventure and was to star Jack Black as Jud Plato, an original Lantern whose bravery was defined by eating brains on a TV show. However, the studio dropped the script idea due to extremely negative feedback from fans.
  • In early 1997, Warner Bros. approached cult filmmaker/comic book writer Kevin Smith to script the film. Smith turned down the offer, believing there were other suitable candidates to make a Green Lantern movie.
  • When Greg Berlanti was in charge, he hired comic book writers Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim to work on the script.

Goofs: Continuity: Young Hal has bright blue eyes. Adult Hal has brown eyes.

Plot: A test pilot is granted an alien ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe. Full summary »  »

Story: A cocky test pilot, Hal Jordan ('Ryan Reynolds' ), acquires superhuman powers when he is chosen by "the Ring", the willpower-fed source of power, of the Green Lantern Intergalactic Corps. He, reluctantly at first, takes on the challenges these superheroes face. Putting his self-doubts aside, and spurred on by his sense of duty and love for his beautiful, intellectually equal, colleague, Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), he is soon called to defend mankind from Parallax, a super-powerful being who feeds on fear. He is the universe's last chance, as many Lanterns have been killed and the Corps is weakened. And he might just be the right Lantern for the job of keeping the world safe from harm. Based on the characters of DC Comics series "Green Lantern".Written by LinaZaproudi

Synopsis

Synopsis: Millions of years before the Earth was formed, a group of beings called the Guardians of the Universe used the green essence of willpower to create an intergalactic police force called the Green Lantern Corps. They split the universe into 3,600 sectors, with one Green Lantern per sector. One such Green Lantern, Abin Sur (Temuera Morrison) of Sector 2814, defeated the fear-essence being Parallax (voiced by Clancy Brown) and imprisoned him in the Lost Sector on the ruined planet Ryut. However, in the present day, Parallax escapes from his prison. Six months later, after killing four Green Lanterns and destroying two planets, Parallax attacks Sector 2814 and mortally wounds Abin Sur, who escapes and crash-lands on Earth. The dying Abin Sur commands his ring to find a worthy successor on the planet.

Ferris Aircraft test pilot Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) is chosen by the ring and transported to the crash site, where Abin Sur appoints him a Green Lantern, by telling him to take the lantern and speak the oath. At home he says the oath of the Green Lanterns while under trance from the glow of the lantern. After he gets attacked while leaving a bar Jordan swings to punch one of his attackers, letting out a huge fist of green energy, afterwards Jordan is whisked away to the Green Lantern Corps home planet of Oa, where he meets and trains with Tomar-Re (voiced by Geoffrey Rush) and Kilowog (voiced by Michael Clarke Duncan). He encounters Corps leader Sinestro (Mark Strong), who is not pleased that a human which is primitive compared to other species has become a Green Lantern. With Sinestro seeing him as unfit and fearful, Jordan quits and returns to Earth, keeping the power ring and lantern.

Meanwhile, after being summoned by his father Senator Robert Hammond (Tim Robbins) to a secret government facility, scientist Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard) performs an autopsy on Abin Sur’s body. A piece of Parallax inside the corpse inserts itself inside Hammond, mutating the scientist and giving him telepathy and telekinetic powers, at the cost of his sanity. After discovering that he was only chosen due to his father’s influence, Hammond resentfully attempts to kill his father by telekinetically sabotaging his helicopter at a party. However, Jordan uses his ring to save the senator and the party guests, including his childhood sweetheart, Ferris manager and fellow test pilot Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), who later recognizes Jordan under the suit and mask. Shortly afterward, Jordan encounters Hammond, who succeeds in his second attempt to kill his father by burning him alive. Both Jordan and Hammond realize Parallax is on his way to Earth.

Back on Oa, the Guardians tell Sinestro that Parallax was once one of their own, until he desired to control the yellow essence of fear, only to become the embodiment of fear itself. Believing the only means to fight fear is by fear itself, Sinestro requests for the Guardians to forge a ring of the same yellow power, preparing to concede Earth’s destruction to Parallax in order to protect Oa. However, Jordan appears and tells Sinestro not to use the yellow ring and for the Corps to help him protect his planet from Parallax’s imminent invasion. They deny his request, but allow Jordan to return and protect his home planet.

Upon returning to Earth, Jordan saves Ferris from being injected with Parallax’s essence by Hammond. Parallax then arrives, consuming Hector’s life force for failing to kill Jordan, and then wreaking havoc on Coast City. Jordan lures Parallax away from Earth and toward the Sun, using the Sun’s gravity to pull and disintegrate the entity. He loses consciousness after the battle, but is saved by Sinestro, Kilowog, and Tomar-Re. Later the entire Green Lantern Corps congratulates him for his bravery. Sinestro tells Jordan he now bears the responsibility of protecting his sector as a Green Lantern. Sometime later when he is alone, Sinestro, still in possession of the yellow ring, places it on his finger, causing his green suit to change to yellow along with his eyes.

Now let me begin by saying this film is not an amazing film. It isdefinitely not an awful film, like most critics are saying. I thinkcritics might have raised their expectations due to Thor and X-Men:First Class. They should not compare the Green Lantern with thosefilms. It is ranked now 24% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is way too low.It would probably be in the high 60s, if it was released before Thorand X-Men: First Class.

The acting in the film is good and not terrible at all. Ryan Reynoldsis great as Hal Jordan and extremely likable. He definitely fits therole as Hal Jordan really well. Blake Lively is great and extremelysexy, she's not just a pretty face as most are suggesting. PeterSarsgaard is a great actor and he plays the villainous Hector Hemmondreally well and interesting. Overall everyone tries their best and atthe end of the day do a really great job, certainly no Oscar worthyperformances, though.

The special effects are pretty superb and extremely worthwhile to saythe least. Although it sometimes feel a little CGIish, but it doesn'tget too big of a distraction. I have to say I was a little disappointedhow Parallax looked like, it felt a little fake at times, but it is nothorrible in any sense of the way. Also the film did not take itselfseriously which is kind of refreshing. Which could be the reason whycritics disliked it so much. They want another sad, personal andserious story. Unlike Thor and X-Men, The Green Lantern is more kidsfriendly.

The main problem of the film was that they were trying to cram stuff infrom the comics and the personal lives of the other characters. Itseems that there could be so many sequels for the other characters. Itdid kind of focus on too many characters. Also the editing gets to be alittle distracting at times, they certainly needed to have done abetter job, but the editing is mediocre at best.

Overall the Green Lantern was a fun summer flick. Although it isnowhere near the realm of The Dark Knight, it didn't need to be. The 3Dwas actually really good and the special effects were memorable. Nodoubt, the critics were extremely tough on the Green Lantern and it isunfair. At the end of the day, don't listen to the critics. Make upyour mind and see this film. At the end of the day, it should be onlyyour opinion that matters to you. You might agree with the critics oryou might not. However don't skip this movie because of the low RottenTomatoes score.

I just have to do it, I just have to correct all the haters outthere…

No summary, no spoilers, just points on what makes a movie.

Storyline: 8/10 Was it award winning? No, but what super hero movie is?The becoming a Green Lantern of Hal Jordan follows the original comicsperfectly. If you know the comics, you know the beginning. If you neverread them, then you learn a lot real fast. The story introduces onlycharacters necessary to the plot and nothing more. Hal, Carol,Senestro, Parallax, the Guardians, Abin Sur, Tomar-Re, and Kilowog. They easily could have introduced way too many guardians, way too fast, but they didn't. Parallax's origins are changed a little but it worksout for the better, remember not everything that works in a book workson screen. All in all, storyline was good, it kept a good pace. Alwaysremember it is an origins story so the 2 hours isn't completely filledwith action but neither Casee nor I got bored.

Acting: 8/10 No Ryan R. did not screw up Hal Jordan. Alright, I'lladmit Hal may not be as witty as Ryan played him but Hal was sure ashell a smart ace in the comics. I thought it fit. I went in thinking,"This is going to be great, or really going to suck." Luckily, castingwas very well done. Carol: Blake did a fine job. I do agree withanother review that said they wished someone a little moreintellectual/mature would play Carol, but in the long scheme of things,Blake didn't get a terrible amount of screen time to prove herself.Maybe as Star Sapphire she may pull out. Lantern Corp: Sinestro 10/10Tomar-Re: 10/10 Kilowog: 10/10 Abin Sur: 10/10 I can't say much elsebesides that these characters lived up to the comics perfectly. I lovedthem all.

Graphics/CGI: 8/10 Why 8? Eh, there were a few, just a few I tell you, parts where the graphics pulled the cartoon look of Spiderman 3.PLEASE! don't be afraid by this, all in all the graphics were awesome.Oa was beautiful, just a couple notches below Asgard in Thor. GreenLantern Ring effects were great, all around solid.

Costumes/sets: 9/10 First, short and sweet. Live action sets: average.Skylines just like any other city, Ferris Airforce Base: good enough.Nothing spectacular but it wasn't the center of the movie. Costumes:STOP HATING ON THE CGI COSTUMES!!!!!!! Even the the comics the suitswere made from energy and that is what the movie did. A powerful ringof willpower isn't going to POOF put anyone in spandex or rubber armor. The mask appears when the identity of a Lantern needs to be protectedand eye color changes as well. PERFECT to me.

Length: 7/10 Although, as I said before there were a few slow parts, Iwould have liked to see the movie for a few minutes longer. Towards theend, yes, a little rushed but it didn't ruin the whole movie. 10-15minutes longer to put it just at the 2 hour mark would have beenperfect for an origins story to me. Took off a couple points here.

Overall: 8/10 By all means it is not as bad as Catwoman or Daredevil assome are writing. Those who make that comment are probably the ones whothink Transformers is somehow an epic movie. Anyways, it is a goodsolid super hero movie. Maybe, not one of the greats like BatmanBegins, Dark Knight, and Thor, but still a great movie that wouldn't bebad to take the mature enough younger kids. Parallax is a little scaryand there are a few curse words, but by all means, this is not a racyfilm.

    Remember: Stay after the credits…

A decent comic book adaptation of the DC comic book character GreenLantern.

It's certainly not as bad as some critics have made it out to be.

It's fun, the action sequences are flashy and exciting. The acting isall top notch and the humor is done really well.

Green Lantern is unpretentious, probably even one of the mostunpretentious superhero movies ever made. It embraces its inherentgoofiness and excludes much of the angst and over-seriousness that weseen in other comic book movies like Batman and Spiderman.

The after-credits scene is awesome. A real fan pleaser and hopefullythey will make a sequel.

As someone who's followed Green Lantern a little bit of a decent amount(not big but fairly decent, for DC character), I liked some thingsabout the movie; but I definitely say that it could have been madebetter, both for casual fans, non-GL fans or hard core ones.

Good points… 1. It stuck fairly consistently with the mythos of theorigin and Planet OA; 2. Ryan Reynolds did decently as Hal Jordan(though he fits more with the Kyle Rayner/Guy Gardner type than Jordan)– but I wish he was more serious; though non-GL fans couldn't careless about this; 3. Blake Lively was eye candy; super hot, but not muchelse; 4. Green Lanterns Tomar Re, Kilowog and Abin Sur were damn goodbut didn't have enough screen time to be significant; 5. Mark Strong'sSinestro was excellent! 6. Hector Hammond was well portrayed by PeterSaarsgard (though it lacked a proper finish) 7. Good supporting castfrom Tim Robbins (Sen. Hammond) to Angela Bassett (Amanda Waller); 8.Green Lantern's costume was wicked; 9. Visual/CGI effects were prettygood

Bad Points… > It tried to fit too much into one movie, moving backand forth from Earth and outer space/OA, thus there was no properflow… (like when there was a build up of momentum, things go slow orboring; or from serious to funny without proper pacing); too manystories were crammed into one movie > Humor was misplaced at times(good peg is Thor which had it in the flow rather thancontrived/forced) > Parallax looked comical; scary at times but only acouple of times > Like Iron Man 2, I wish the fight scenes were so muchmore; they spent too much on the set-up that the fights were short andcould have been so much more and elaborate. > Some scenes and even somecharacters were not necessary (Hal's best friend, even some scenes withBlake's Carol Ferris were not needed); they should have added moreaction instead

Summary, visual effects, actors, GL base story good. But the way thewriters and director put things together were a mixture of variousplots and subplots crazy glued into one movie for pure entertainment.Kids will enjoy it, but adults likely will not. This is a summer ofsuperheroes, with 3 down and one more to go (well, technically 5 withTransformers if you're thinking comic book stories), so it's quiteimpossible not to compare them to each other.

The director is known to direct good flicks like Goldeneye and CasinoRoyale (two good movies), but I wish he did more; studied more, hadsplit up more stories to be more single- minded and not work on acluttered material.

For a comic book movie, Green Lantern had the potential to be great. Ifthe writers of the movie even watched the animated movie First Flight, they would've been able to come up with a better script than what theydid. I think the cast did the best that they could with the corny linesand terrible writing.

Ryan Reynolds was believable as Hal Jordan, Blake Lively wasexceptional in her role (which primarily involved looking pretty whichshe is good at) and Mark Strong as Sinestro was flawless. Though Ithoroughly disliked what the writers did to this movie, I do hope theGL series isn't written off. There is still enough in the story ofGreen Lantern for a sequel, but for the love of Oa the old scriptwriters need to go and a brand new team needs to bring something to thetable. Mark Strong is an acting powerhouse and as we have seen in theDark Knight, it is the villain and not the hero that makes anexceptional comic book movie! Sinestro has to do for GL what the Jokerdid for Batman! Thats my 2 cents

We are getting decent and compelling superhero movies these days, whichis a great thing that happened to the genre. Now "Green Lantern" is oneof those films that also needs to be powerful, but it ends up being ageneric cheesy cinema. "Green Lantern" is not perfectly horrible or theworst superhero movie ever but it's just too much exposition and awhole lot of green cheese.

"Green Lantern" has a great concept. Just like the other superherofilms, the storytelling also needs to be compelling. Unfortunately, thefilm gets lazy to tell the story so they just threw a lot of narrationand even the ones that are not quite necessary to narrate. The actionis not very amazing. it's just showing us how eye-candy the effectsare.

At least the movie is loyal to its corniness. Hal Jordan's wackyimagination and the aliens' zany looking faces. The CGI is pretty. Theperformances were entertaining enough. Ryan Reynolds is doing his sameold thing. Mark Strong didn't appear so much (which is disappointing)but still he's awesome.

It's disappointing because they're making the interesting villains intouninteresting. Example, Parallax should be terrifying and menacing.Instead he's a scrambled egg who eats fear. Not really terrifying normenacing. Peter Sarsgaard's mad scientist performance was pretty goodbut the only thing he did in this film is crying in agony and use histelekinesis powers in a lame way.

"Green Lantern" just wanted to show its beautiful visuals. It's not avery bad thing but the filmmakers doesn't take its storytelling soseriously. It can be entertaining for some reason but it can also beforgettable. It's good to see it in the big screen for the visuals butyou don't want to see it again after that. This might be the weakestsuperhero movie of the year. Even "The Green Hornet" is better thanthis. "Thor" might be the best superhero film of 2011 so far in myopinion because even though the action isn't great, at least there is acompelling storytelling. The sad thing is, both the action and thestorytelling are not compelling in "Green Lantern".

    3D? Very dark!

I'm comic book fan who's read Green Lantern since the late 80's and wasprivileged to see this movie early with a friend, who is a non-comicbook fan in general. So what you're getting in this review are 2 fanperspectives:

    STORY:

The story was told very simple. Those familiar with the comic, itfollows very closely to the Secret Origins (2008) arc written by GeoffJohns, more so than the original Hal Jordan story back in the SilverAge revival.

The film is 90% story setup and 10% action sprinkled throughout thefilm, most of them at the end with a short and uninspired final battle(a gripe similar to Fantastic Four film in 2005). This film could'veused a LOT more action; most of it already revealed from the trailers, believe it or not.

The pacing felt unbalanced. My friend thought the movie tried to fit ina lot of plots and stories like Spider-Man 3 did with the transitionfrom earth to space, back to earth, back to space, back to earth… alittle foreboding when the better space scenes were few and farbetween. There's a post credit scene too.

    SPECIAL EFFECTS:

This film is very heavy in that department. It's a hit or miss. Itworks, but some may think it's a little silly.

A gripe we had was that the CGI on some of the movements of thecharacters were so outdated like almost 10 years aka Spider-Man (2002).You would think after all these years we could see better CGI animationespecially when it transitions from live action Hal Jordan to CGI HalJordan.

Also, Hal Jordan's constructs in this movie were a little too"cartoony". He basically created everything from a flamethrower, gatling gun, artillery gun, a SWAT shield, catapult, jetplanes, andeven a cadillac dragster complete with it's own green speedway to driveon to! For a live action movie, just felt a little over the top silly. Not even the Justice League TV animated series, John Stewart, ever madethese kinds of constructs.

Also, my buddy made a point in that the power of the ring was toogodlike for non-comic book fans to grasp – the "McGyver of rings". OnceHal Jordan completed his short training (yes, short), you knew he wasjust going to be unstoppable. No problem with comic fans, but it mightbe a little bit of a turn-off to the casual viewer since it made thevillain look pale in comparison, especially in the anti-climactic finalbattle, which the trailers actually gave a hint to on how it would end.I mean, how else would you kill off space tentacles?

    ACTING:

Mark Strong definitely was the best cast of the film. He played thecool and calculated Sinestro better than I'd imagine. Although theywere not really "buddies" in the comics, a missed opportunity I thoughtwas that it would've been better if they had played more on therelationship between Hal Jordan and Sinestro as something a bit morethan just mentor to student, in order to build up a stronger emotionalbond when the "inevitable" heel turn happens to strengthen a sequel,i.e. think of Peter Parker and Norman Osborne. Yes, every 9 year oldkid can point that out Senestro will be evil just based on the name.

Peter Sarsgaard who plays Hector Hammond was average; nothing reallymemorable in terms of acting. Another missed opportunity I believe wasthe fact they could've played more of the "Norman Osborne / Spider-Manas Peter Parker identity" relationship on this one too; will not spoilthe film so I'll leave it at that.

Blake Lively played the typical bossy childhood girl (friend) who playshard to get, but changes her heart once the hero saves the day. One ofmy least favorite characters in the film actually, with some of themost corniest lines. The romance almost felt like it was just there togive the film a romance plot that really could've been done without.Don't expect anything too deep like Peter Parker & Mary Janechemistry-wise, or even that of Thor & Jane Foster.

Ryan Reynolds was a mixed bag. My buddy thought he was "okay" as HalJordan (not knowing anything about the comics), while I thought some ofthe inner monologue jokes from him were more appropriate coming fromGuy Gardner (another Green Lantern) or even Wally West the Flash.Actually, most of it was simply Ryan Reynolds just being Ryan Reynolds(see Van Wilder) and made me wonder how much ad-lib he had in thescript? Overall I wasn't impressed, but not disappointed either. Butunlike what Christopher Reeve brought to the big screen as ClarkKent/Superman, or what Hugh Jackman brought as Wolverine, Robert DowneyJr as Tony Stark, and even Chris Hemsworth as Thor… Ryan Reynoldsdidn't quite bring it as real comic book fans would know Hal Jordan.

    SUMMARY:

All in all this movie was a decent summer movie. The pacing was off,and you don't really have any emotional pull for the characters. Thefinal battle ends before you knew it even started. It's not as good asthis year's other comic book predecessors in X-Men 1st Class, and Thor.Don't come expecting deep character developments or you may bedisappointed, as the movie doesn't take itself way too seriously as itshould. For a 105 minute movie, the best parts were near the end in thelast 15 mins of the film.

The real winners in the audience are definitely the kids, because it isa good kid's movie. Green Lantern may not be the best summer movie ofthis year, but this movie may brighten your day.

    RATING: 6/10

After using IMDb for about 10 years this is my first time writing areview so here goes.

I am a big fan of DC Comics and Green Lantern is definitely one of myfavorites as I even own quite a volume of comics of him. I wasn'treally looking forward to this movie since every time I do I always gotlet down. My first thought after hearing Parallax being in the movie Iwas wondering if they would do it like in the comics. But that didn'tmake sense because this is only the first movie and the studio wouldmake it as an origin movie not something else. The whole thing seemed alittle tad slow and I think they tried to do character developments andget the story going but even for a fan I kind of found it hard tofollow. It wasn't engaging enough I suppose. There were some actionscenes but that also didn't really live up to expectations. I thoughtthey had the right director and actors for this movie but something wasmissing from the comics.

If they ever make a sequel to this movie I do hope they hire someonefrom DC to write a script and have the sort of impact Iron Man did backin 2008. I do have a feeling this is going to be another SupermanReturns though.

Back in 1977 when George Lucas told a story in the frame of JosephCampbells Heroes Journey, it was unique. When Sam Raimi told a superhero story with the same structure in 2002, there was still plenty itadded a new filter. And, when Jon Favreau did it again in 2008, headded enough unique touches to the tale to reinvigorate what wasbecoming a tired formula.

The writers of Green Lantern felt it was enough to skim cliffnotes ofCampbell and write the film based on their notes of the reading andhalf remembered recollections of reading comic books when they were 12.There is nothing new in this film. A man is given a magic ring whichtakes him out of the world of the ordinary and makes him a hero. Wedon't grow to care about him because he doesn't grow or change… hesimply goes through the motions because the script tells him to.

Ryan Reynolds tries his best with a weak and contrived script, but hestill comes off too snarky to be the overconfident jet pilot he'ssupposed to be. It's not all his fault, as the script is much morecontent to tell us what the cast is feeling or thinking instead ofletting the actors convey it through their actions, inflections orlooks. It is as if the writers had no faith in their cast or direction, let alone their audience, and dumbed the entire affair down below eventhe cartoon portrayals of the character.

The visuals are nice, but never have weight, leading to the effect thatRyan Reynolds head if occasionally floating through a video game. It'ssad to think it's been six years since Gollum, and this is the bestWarner Brothers can offer us in a tent pole film. It's also a shame tothink this is the best they could do with only 37 million dollars lessthan Avatar. Again, it just shows that the production staff was lazy, never pushing it to look better, and instead setting for the "they'llthink it looks cool" effect.

We should demand better from comic book films. After having Dark Knightand Iron Man in a single year, we should not be subjected to subparoutings like this. Fun is one thing, mind numbingly dumb and lazy isanother.

Skip this in the theater. Wait for it to come to NetFlix and thenforget to put it in your cue. You'll thank me.

They say that if you've seen one superhero movie, you've seen them all. That's not entirely true, but if every superhero movie were like GreenLantern, then it would be true. Green Lantern is your typical superheromovie, so if you've seen quite a few superhero movies (like I have),you'll know what's ahead. This is the problem with Green Lantern, it'stoo predictable and does nothing new to make it stand out from thecrowd. That's not necessarily a bad thing though, but it's not a goodthing either. There are 3 good things in this movie. One, PeterSarsgaard as Hector Hammond is delightfully hammy and fun to watch. Two, the SFX are cool and what they do with the Green Lantern ring isalso cool, and Parallax's design suits its evilness. Third, the fightbetween Hal and Parallax is the best scene in the movie. Other thanthose things, it's average. If you've never seen a superhero movieand/or are a Green Lantern fan, this movie is worth seeing. Everyoneelse should see X-Men: First Class.
