Story: Orphaned high school student Rick Riker is bitten by a radioactive dragonfly, develops super powers (except for the ability to fly), and becomes a hero.

Synopsis

Synopsis: Rick Riker (Drake Bell) is an unpopular student at Empire High with his only friend Trey (Kevin Hart), living with his uncle Albert (Leslie Nielsen) and Aunt Lucielle (Marion Ross). His crush Jill Johnson (Sara Paxton), who hardly notices him, is dating Rick’s bully Lance Landers (Ryan Hansen). Rick and Trey are then shown to be on a school trip to an animal research lab. In the lab Rick meets Lou Landers (Christopher McDonald) who coughs up blood because he is terminally ill. Dr. Strom, the head researcher at the lab, then shows his seven mutated dragonflies, though there are only six there because one has escaped which then bites Rick, and causes his neck to swell.

The scene then goes to Rick’s house where his Aunt Lucille and Uncle Albert are talking on the couch when Rick comes in. He is very sick, and throws up in a fish tank because of his illness and goes up to his room. Albert and Lucille believe Rick is acting strange, so Albert proceeds to talk to Rick. Rick then passes out from the bite.

He wakes up the next morning, with a strange video sent to him from a man wanting to speak to him, later adding Rick as a friend on Facebook. Meanwhile, Lou Landers gets into a scientific accident, transforming into the Hourglass who feeds on human life. At a science fair, with a comically rude and mean-spirited Stephen Hawking who gets physically hurt throughout the film, Rick gets into mishaps, such as becoming stuck to water fountains. He then realizes he has superpowers such as the ability to walk on walls, has incredible strength, but cannot fly. He tests his strength in an alleyway, then decides to test how he can walk up walls. He climbs up and begins to break dance, then has a lie-down on the wall and a cat walks up the wall beside him. He then sees an old woman about to be hit by a truck in the road, and just as she is about to get hit he pushes her out of the way and the truck collides with him stopping it.

After his heroic feat he is congratulated by passers-by, but as they are congratulating him he looks to his right and sees he has accidentally pushed the woman into a woodchipper and the dog she was holding the lead of up is slowly getting pulled up into the machine as well. Trey offers to become his sidekick, but Rick resigns. His Uncle and he have a brief fight, which reminds Rick when he was younger and rich with his parents who die in a spoof of Batman Begins. His father urges him to invest of all his money in, not Google, but Enron.

Rick later watches the girl of his dreams, Jill, who leaves with Lance in his car. Rick wants a car, and he sets out to get money from the bank. He fails though, with no credit or payment.

After his uncle is quickly injured, Rick is met by Xavier (Tracy Morgan) at his school for mutants ala X-Men. Rick is told to make a costume, which he does (and later improves), and he becomes known as the Dragonfly. He quickly becomes a sensation, until his fight with the Hourglass, who ends up cutting him with little hourglass blades. The Hourglass then escapes.

Jill is then seen walking in an alleyway and is attacked by thugs, but the Dragonfly saves her. The two then try to kiss, but encounter difficulties as Dragonfly is hanging upside down. They eventually kiss for the first time, and Jill thanks him.

The scene then goes to a Thanksgiving dinner at Rick’s house. During Thanksgiving Landers visits the family (everyone is unaware he is Hourglass). He nearly catches Rick dressed as the Dragonfly, but later manages to figure out his secret identity.

Just as Rick and Jill are about to fall in love, the Hourglass comes in and murders Aunt Lucille. After a comical funeral, Rick decides to throw in the towel as a superhero.

Trey and Uncle Albert find Rick after the funeral, and convince him to find and defeat the Hourglass. At a ceremony, Lou, with the help of a Microsoft "Death Machine Maker" disk, concocts a plan to make himself immortal by killing thousands of people. Rick finds out where he plans on doing this; a convention of all races, right next to a comic-con. Lou Landers is awarded the Douchebag Of The Year award, and encounters Rick who believes someone else is the Hourglass. He returns in costume and critically injures Jill. (If you look closely you’ll see black suit spider-man.)

After a sincere speech given by Stephen Hawkings to Rick (which Rick points out are the lyrics to Celine Dion’s Taking Chances), he dons the Dragonfly suit, and battles the Hourglass on the rooftop. Dragonfly heals Jill, but the Hourglass throws an Hourglass bomb onto Dragonfly’s crotch. Dragonfly then puts his crotch next to Lou Landers’ face, which blows up, killing him. He also saves Jill and himself from falling to their deaths by finally growing wings and being able to fly.

The film ends with the Dragonfly and Jill flying in the air sky high, with Rick giving his final narration, only to be stopped short, as both are hit by a helicopter.

It doesn't make any sense, Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartansare all candidates for my worst movie of all time. So why did I enjoythis movie so much? I don't like the cast but they work incredibly hardto make a half decent script into something highly amusing. A welcomereturn for Zucker style silliness and less pathetic attempts atparodies, there are also hints at intelligent humour and nods to otherclassic spoofs. There is also a truly hilarious moment involving TomCruise played to perfection by Miles Fisher.

Seriously it is truly hilarious in places, I am surprised but by nomeans ashamed to recommend this for anyone in need of a topical orsilly laugh.

I really liked this one. I wasn't expecting much, being worn out onspoof movies lately because of the layer of crap that's been dropped onus, the movie-going public. "Epic Movie","Date Movie","Meet theSpartans" all sucked.

That being said, the people who made this, made the latter-day Zucker-styled comedies(a la Airplane, The Naked Gun) Scary Movie 3 & 4, andnot those other "Movie" movies (which are the domain of Jason Friedberg& Aaron Seltzer).

There were parts of this movie where I laughed so hard I could barelybreathe. And that happens SO rarely with comedies lately. Seriously, Ilaughed hard.

But, it was one of those things that will entertain but never be aclassic you'd bother watching again. It was a bit forgettable in thatway.

If "Superhero Movie" gives you the same giddy, guilty-pleasure feelingas "Airplane!" and the "Naked Gun" movies, it's no accident. Some ofthose movies' personnel – who were also involved in two lesser "ScaryMovie" sequels – show up here. (Those include writer-director CraigMazin, who happily has come a long way from 1997's abysmal"Rocketman.")

The movie's title says it all. It's a comedy that takes a well-knownhit (in this case, "Spider-Man"), turns it inside out, and uses it as aclothesline for gags. In this parody version, nerdy Rick Riker (amiableDrake Bell of cable-TV's "Drake and Josh") gets bitten by a mutantdragonfly, turning him into…well, take a guess. Meanwhile, awell-meaning scientist (Chris McDonald) turns nasty when his experimentbackfires and he finds he must sap others' life-blood in order to keephimself alive.

As is typical of such parodies, the movie's approach is as subtle as aspitball gun. Some of the gags are terrific, and some are groaners. Butthey're all fired at such a rapid pace that after a while, you have nochoice but to give in to the silliness. The characters are likeshooting-gallery ducks waiting to have parody lobbied at them. Best ofthe bunch are Rick's well-meaning but dotty uncle and aunt(delightfully played by Leslie Nielsen and "Happy Days'" Marion Ross). The most pitiable is a take-off on disabled genius Stephen Hawking, whoseems to push Mazin's bad-taste button over and over ad nauseum.

This leads me to the movie's most required caveat. While the flick ismostly silly fun, it pushes its "PG-13" rating right up to the edge ofthe "R" cliff. The movie is larded with sexual gags and profanityabound, and what might possibly be cinema's longest-ever flatulencegag.

But if you can bear up under the cringe factor, "Superhero Movie" ismostly high-powered fun. Nifty comedy here runs neck-and-neck with badtaste. It's a close race, but the comedy wins.

"Superhero Movie" is rated PG-13 for countless sex and drug references, crude humor, and adult language.

I came to my movie theatre wanting to see the movie, 21. But sadly, itwas sold out, so I settled for Superhero Movie. Hearing that one of myfavorite stars, Sara Paxton was in it, I figured why the hell not? Iwas with my friends, so if it was awful, I could just make fun of itwith them.

I was expecting stupid cheesy jokes, like Meet The Spartans, but I haveto admit, there were some quality laughs in this! (I loved how theyspoofed Perez Hilton for that one second.) This is actually a veryfunny movie with some good humor in it, and even though they have theoccasional stupid fart or crotch joke, even a very mature person whodoesn't enjoy "bathroom humor" found some of it actually kind oflaughable.

This is way better than most films that spoof other films. It's amillion times better than the likes of Epic Movie, Disaster Movie andmany other pathetic attempts to parody other films. Unlike most filmsthat spoof others this one gets the job done without overdoing it andat times it even felt like an actual Superhero film as well as talentedcast members that fit their roles perfectly and the villain "TheHourglass" was good considering it was a parody film. It also hasvarious comedy elements of its own such as Lucille's funeral and manymore moments that I would mention but I don't want to spoil the film.At the funeral The priest says "We are gathered here today to saygoodbye to Lucille" then all the people at the funeral shout"Goodbye!".If you plan to watch this film do not judge it on the lowrating. It's a pity most parody films weren't as good as this.

The "movie" movie series was really going for a while there (All theScary Movies had me in stitches) it bombed for a while when Adam Seltzand Jason Friedburg took over and here is a brief show is a list ofratings of some of the other "movie" movies: Date Movie: 57% EpicMovie: 50% Meet The Spartans: 48% But with this one the series getsbetter with Superhero films being sent up in a playful way and it isactually really funny. It is a little hit and miss but I think thatadds to the final feel to the "dumbness" to the film. I think that thisis worth a view for the fans of Scary Movie and haters of the later"movie" movies. Overall this is a good and funny film good for a laughonce or twice and I give it a fair rating of 65%.

Watching Superhero Movie feels like you're re-watching one of the NakedGun movies, only there are "deleted scenes" which unfortunately featurepop culture references and fart jokes. It's a fun movie if you're intothe genre but overall falls far too short of being as good as theclassics.

The cast is great for the material they're working with, with someexceptions being those who are given too little screen time to showtheir talents. Musician/actor Drake Bell's comedic timing isimpressive, as is that of spoof legend Leslie Nielsen.

The humor, a combination of slapstick, wordplay and sex/toilet humor,is hit and miss, but hits more often than one would think. The spoofsrange from clever to cringe-worthy, but the story and resultant gagsfollow the source material (mostly 2002's Spider-Man) very well, asopposed to the "Hey, look! It's -insert character- from -insert popularmovie-!" style other recent spoofs have adopted. The only roadblocksare the childish fart jokes (one of which spans minutes) and dated popculture references (Tom Cruise? Barry Bonds? Really?).

It's due to all of this that the movie, although flawed, can appeal tofans of any kind of spoof movie, be it twenty years old or two. It'salso able to fulfill the expectations of the average moviegoer whilegiving some clever surprises to those who don't see them coming. Simplyput, if you're a fan of any type of comedy, there's bound to besomething in this joke-a-second spoof for you.

With all these bad Spoof movies like Date movie, Not Another TeenMovie,Epic Movie and Disaster Movie (which is the worst spoof movieever).

So i was thinking will be the same, but my god this movie made me laughso much, This movie better then others listed above better then Scarymovie 4 and 2

Plot: In this spoof of Hollywood blockbusters, director andscreenwriter Craig Mazin (THE SPECIALS) tackles the age-old story of aregular guy who suddenly finds that he possesses super powers. RickyRiker (Drake Bell) is a typical teenager, except that his luck is worsethen most. Basically, he's a loser. He's been in love with beautifulJill (Sara Paxton) for years, but is sure she doesn't know he exists.Even his best friend, Trey (Kevin Hart), is willing to throw him overfor another clique. But Rick's life changes dramatically when agenetically enhanced dragonfly bites him during a school field trip. Ina flash, he becomes the Dragonfly. He can scale buildings, and hasimmense strength–though he's still a klutz. Rick isn't sure he haswhat it takes to be a superhero, but it's up to him to save the cityfrom the villainous Hourglass (Christopher McDonald), who literallysucks the life out of people, and threatens to harm those dearest toRick. Mazin, The main spoof is spider man they also spoof Batman, theFantastic Four, and the X-Men.

I love this movie so, well the last spoof movie I Saw was Disastermovie that oh my god, that movie was SO bad ) (That one the reason likethis movie more then I Should) The superhero movie is one best spoof tocome out last year, I am not saying it the best spoof EVER! Love it7/10

When a loser teen is bitten by an insect, he becomes the superheroDragonfly…

Superhero Movie is the latest spoof movie to hit the screens. Sadlyhowever, despite the presence of David Zucker (who was involved withAirplane!, Top Secret and The Naked Gun movies) it still suffers fromthe fault most recent spoofs have…mainly it's more dumb than fun! Thefault mainly lies with the gags. It's simply not funny enough. Some ofthe jokes do work, such as the nail gun scene, but other parts simplyfall flat. The X-men spoof for example, or the whole farting sequence.Blazing Saddles this isn't! One of the key things about the best spoofmovies, like Airplane is that although the dialog is extremely funny, the cast for the most part play is completely straight. This makes iteven funnier. Even when there is simple dialog in the foreground, theremay well be funny things happening behind the cast. Again funny. Theother key thing is that they all have a plot of sorts, to hang the gagson.

The recent trend seems to be to take scenes from various movies, THENtry and spoof them. As a result the so-called plot of these movies veryrarely exist. Another flaw these movies have, is that some of thescenes were actually funny in the original versions, and in most caseseven funnier than the spoof scene! The cast try to get into the spiritrequired, but with a lot of unfunny dialog and scenes, it's hard to getworked up about it.

As recent spoof movies go, it's not as bad as Epic Movie, Date Movie,or the awful Meet The Spartans, but considering that some peopleinvolved here have made good, funny movies in the past, it's nowherenear good enough.

So I went to the Superhero Movie yesterday and I wasn't sure if it wasgoing to be any good because most of the reviews and ratings on herewere very poor and normally these types of movies aren't very good atall. So anyway I went in there with doubts but in the first 20 secondsI was cracking up even just with the start where there is just sayingwho's in the film. From that point on to the very end I had neverlaughed so hard in my entire life. This movie was absolutely fantasticand I would see it over and over again. There are jokes every 30seconds! I highly recommend everybody to see this fantastic movie, youwon't regret it.
